Exploring the physics of flow.
Connecting health and engineering.

I use computational fluid dynamics and mathematical modelling to investigate how fluids, particles and heat move through biological and engineered systems.

Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering
Lead, Computational Biofluid and Heat Transfer Lab

From inhaled particles and red blood cell mechanics to natural convection and thermal energy storage, my research connects fundamental transport processes with practical questions.

Project spotlight / International collaboration

Understanding and restoring airway clearance.

The SPARC project on an artificial ciliary patch for human lungs combines numerical and experimental approaches to investigate restoration of mucociliary clearance.

As International Principal Investigator, I contribute to a collaboration bringing together modelling, engineering and respiratory research.

03 / Background

Mathematics at the foundation.
Engineering in practice.

I trained in mathematics and applied mathematics at the University of Dhaka before completing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at James Cook University in 2009.

My academic career has included research appointments at James Cook University and Queensland University of Technology. I joined UTS as a Senior Lecturer in December 2017.

Alongside fundamental research, my work includes industry-supported projects in first aid and CPR device calibration, fan blade design and aerospace engineering.
